Now we were ready to conquer Los Angeles, and it was Mette's turn to take the wheel that day. She had to take a deep breath as the two lanes we started on quickly transformed into an eight-lane highway, with on- and off-ramps shooting off to both the right and left. The entire road network looked like a roller coaster, twisting and turning around each other. We drove through Beverly Hills and Bel Air, and with our hearts in our throats, we finally arrived in Hollywood, where we found the perfect hotel with a pool, French Cottage. It was scorching hot—around 40 degrees! From the motel, it was only a five-minute walk to Hollywood Boulevard, where the stars of the famous line the sidewalk and the iconic Mann's Chinese Theater stands proudly. You can also find shops selling all kinds of souvenirs there. In the afternoon, we wandered around the West Hollywood area, checking out all the attractions close to our motel. Of course, we also wanted to see if we could spot any celebrities. So in the evening, we dressed up nicely and took a taxi down to the Hollywood Strip, where the nightclubs and bars are, and where the stars sometimes come to party. We struck up conversations with a bunch of people and got some great tips on where and when we’d have the best chance of seeing celebrities. Apparently, not many celebs party on weekends because there are too many people. Instead, they hit the town on Tuesdays. We didn’t see any famous faces that Saturday, as predicted, but we still had an absolute blast. As the night went on and we had a few more drinks, my English started to slip a bit, and I ended up saying, "I’m just a funny fætter."
