The World’s Largest Cruise Ship – Is It Also the Best?

On our final sea day, we assess the food, entertainment, facilities and price of Legend of the Seas.

The world’s largest cruise ship – is it also the best? 🚢 Today is our final day aboard Legend of the Seas: a full day at sea before we disembark in Barcelona tomorrow morning after a week in the Mediterranean. We have now been on 17 cruises around the world with cruise lines including Norwegian, AIDA, MSC, Costa and Celebrity, on both large and small ships. So how does the world’s largest cruise ship compare with all the others? It is clearly the best ship we have ever sailed on! 😃 The food is simply a level above. Lobster, enormous king prawns, impressive dessert displays and a fantastic choice in the buffet. The theatre productions are also better than those we have experienced on large ships operated by Norwegian, Celebrity and MSC. And then there is the daily programme. So much is happening that it is impossible to do everything. With an ice rink, climbing wall, eight distinct neighbourhoods, several swimming pools, a Central Park with real trees and the largest water park at sea, perhaps that is not surprising. But how much does it cost? Royal Caribbean’s very largest ships are normally far beyond our budget. They often cost around twice what we paid this time. We paid DKK 23,800 for all four of us for seven nights in a lovely balcony cabin, with food and entertainment included—around DKK 5,950 per person. The explanation is a promotion that allowed us to bring the children for just €100 each. That suddenly made the world’s largest cruise ship very good value. Even so, it is still rather more expensive than other cruises we have taken. We have been extremely impressed, and even after a week we still have not managed to try everything. Will we sail on a ship of this size again? Yes, absolutely—but only if the price is right. 😃🚢
