Our return ticket to Nairobi was early in the morning, so once again we had to rise and shine. This time, thankfully, our flight was on time without any engine issues to deal with first. Back in Nairobi, we headed to Nairobi Backpackers again, where we had booked a double room for 750 shillings, breakfast included. It was our last day in Kenya for now, so we wanted to make the most of our time by wandering around the city. We ended up at a large shopping mall where you could buy fake DVDs outside. Next, we made our way to Karen Blixen's farm. We hired a taxi for 900 shillings to take us both ways, which took about half an hour to reach. Her house and garden were beautifully maintained, filled with lots of items and photos that tell the story of an exciting life. However, it was a bit pricey to enter and see the house, costing 750 shillings per person. Back at the hostel, we also needed to pack everything up so we were ready for our flight home the next morning. We had managed to buy a lot of beautiful but also bulky items, so there was plenty to fit into our bags. But we wanted to enjoy our last evening, so we headed to Kenya’s, or rather Africa’s, best restaurant, Carnivore. In fact, it’s nominated as one of the world’s 50 best restaurants. Carnivore has its own unique theme and decor, emphasizing everything that’s very African. This means you can taste meats that are quite special to Kenya. Here, you can try crocodile, ostrich, camel, and wild boar, among others. The theme is all-you-can-eat, with waiters walking around with huge skewers, carving the meat right at your table. Plus, we were served a variety of bowls with sauces—each offering a special flavor for the different types of meat. The whole feast, including appetizers, main course, dessert, and wine, cost us 5900 shillings. Back at the hostel, we had to hit the hay early since a taxi was coming to pick us up at 7:15 the next morning to take us to the airport.
