Hangover in KL
Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's capital and largest city in the country.
We had gone to bed late and wanted to sleep in, but the street and the night market outside our hotel were incredibly loud. We had a restless night because we could hear every little sound, so we decided to switch hotels. Some of the Chinese folks we had chatted with the night before recommended "Mandarin." It was a bit pricier, but also a much nicer place. It cost 92 rm, but at least the room came with air conditioning and breakfast. Plus, it felt a lot safer to leave our bags in a proper room that didn’t look like the window could fall out at any moment. We still had a bit of a hangover, but those tend to fade faster in the heat since you sweat them out quicker. And honestly, nothing helps a hangover like food from McDonald's. A meal costs 8 rm. You can also notice cultural differences at McDonald's. Instead of ketchup for your fries, you get chili sauce, and they even sell a rice burger. We took it easy for the day and did a bit of shopping. It wasn't until the evening that we started to feel more like ourselves again. Still, we were sharp enough to haggle our way into some good deals, picking up a DVD for 10 rm, a "Prada" bag for 30 rm, several T-shirts for 7 rm each, and some wellness tea for 9 rm. We headed down to China Town, which has an incredible number of markets and restaurants, to grab dinner. There, we ran into the three Danish guys from Perhentian, who had just arrived in KL as well. Later, we took a taxi out to the Petronas Towers, where there’s a huge cinema. We bought tickets for the new HULK movie for 10 rm each, but unfortunately, there weren’t many films to choose from that day.
