Big Shopping in Delhi

We had a restless night, having to switch rooms twice at the same hotel because of noise. Eventually, we moved to a quieter hotel, Megha Palace, for 2200 rs, in a different neighborhood. Fortunately, our stomachs are feeling better. We even threatened to head home early because we didn’t want to risk our health. We’re a bit suspicious about everything we eat. We’re even checking for stickers on bananas to make sure they haven’t been poisoned—maybe a little paranoia is a good thing! :) After catching some sleep at our new hotel, we headed out to Sarojini Market, where there’s a ton of Western clothing to buy. We came away with two pairs of ladies' sandals, a nice pair of men's shoes for going out, two pairs of shorts, men's belts, and wallets. There were also a lot of knockoff bags, but unfortunately, they looked a bit worn out. A tuk-tuk driver recommended another market, Gaffar Market near Krole Bagh, claiming it was a great place to buy the latest mobile phones at a good price. The market turned out to be packed with one mobile dealer after another. After checking prices at several places, Jan bought the latest Nokia model 3220 for 7900 rs. We’re still being very cautious about what we eat, but since our appetites have grown, we decided it was time for a proper dinner instead of just toast, bananas, and water. So, we headed to El Rodeo, a Mexican/Italian restaurant located in Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi. When we got there, we weren’t feeling too adventurous with our food choices after all, so we settled for soup and bread. :) The restaurant was fantastic, with a fun decor. The waiters were dressed in cowboy outfits, and the bar stools were actually saddles!
