Jordan

Jordan is mostly a desert country. But that doesn't just mean sand from end to end. The Jordanian desert hides great treasures that will take the breath away from even the most hardened tourist. Petra and Wadi Rum are two excellent examples of what lies hidden in the sand and also examples of the amazing history Jordan has behind it. In fact, 80 per cent of the country is covered by desert. The remaining 20 per cent is primarily the area around the Jordan River, which is by far the country's most fertile. This is also where the vast majority of the population lives. In Jordan, summer temperatures sometimes reach up to 49 degrees centigrade, although this is rare. In winter, it's not uncommon to see a little snow every now and then.
