Water Puppet Show

Luckily, we didn’t wake up with a hangover after yesterday’s night out. We went on a bit of a trek to find breakfast and discovered there’s a huge difference in price levels around here. After breakfast, we headed back to the hotel for a little more sleep. Later in the day, we had to make a trip to the pharmacy because our stomachs were starting to act up. We felt like treating ourselves a bit, so we decided to try staying at a five-star hotel while we were in Vietnam, especially since the prices were significantly lower. We headed over to the Hilton to book a suite for the next day. Later, we found out it’s much cheaper to book a room online. Close to the Hilton, we found a little café where we had a late lunch. We ordered pizza, which took over an hour to prepare. When the door swung open and a pizza delivery guy walked in, we realized why the wait had been so long. The café didn’t make their own pizza; it had to be delivered. Back in the old quarter, we went on a DVD hunt, where Honny bargained the price down to 170,000 dong for 10 DVDs—extremely cheap! Because of our vacation stomachs, we weren’t really in the mood for dinner, so we skipped it. Instead, we went to see the Water Puppet Show at 8 PM. First-class seats cost 40,000 dong each. The show lasted an hour and was beautifully done. It reflected the lives of farmers in the old days. When it was rainy season and the farmers couldn’t work in the fields, they spent their time making puppets to perform little plays about their lives. On our way back to the hotel, we had an unfortunate encounter with a Vietnamese man. He deliberately bumped into Honny and then turned around and said, “Watch it, it’s my country.”
