Return to Arba Minch

Today's journey took us from Turmi back to Arba Minch, and there were no tribe visits today. But honestly, that was okay. Driving around on those dusty, bumpy roads is tough. We're constantly dealing with dust up our noses and deep in our ears. Goodness, we feel dirty all the time! We got back to the Tourist Hotel around 2 PM. Unfortunately, it was too late to catch a car or bus to Addis on the same day. It's recommended not to travel outside the bigger cities after dark because people sometimes put stones on the road, forcing you to stop. Then they take your stuff. So, we decided to spend the night at the Tourist Hotel, which is quite a decent place. There's running water and lights in the lamps. They even have a cozy courtyard where you can eat. For lunch, we had spaghetti, but when evening rolled around, we decided to step it up a notch. In the courtyard, there was a chef preparing Tibis over an open fire. We couldn't say no to that. Tibis is goat and lamb meat cut into pieces and cooked thoroughly. Ethiopians really enjoy raw meat, so we had to make sure the Tibis was well done. It’s served with injera, their national bread, which looks like a rolled-up towel and has a slightly sour bread flavor. But you can definitely get used to the taste. Food here is super cheap. The Tibis cost 25 birr, and a soda was just 6 birr.
