Finally arrived in Ethiopia!
Our first day in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Explore Finally arrived in Ethiopia! through our first-hand travel stories, photos, routes, practical…
We traveled for many, many hours, and finally, we arrived. Around 11 PM on Thursday night, we landed in Addis Ababa. We had a layover in Sudan, where the couple sitting in front of us had to get off. They were from Norway and spent three months in Norway and three months in Sudan, where the husband worked as a physiotherapist. They mentioned that you can definitely visit the capital, Khartoum, but you need to be careful in the outskirts. We quickly got our visa at the airport in Addis Ababa, and it was also a breeze getting through passport control. But the bank... that took a really, really long time. We had brought some dollars from home, but it still took ages to exchange them for birr, as there are always tons of papers to sort out :) We ended up taking the first hotel we found since we were getting pretty tired. We had the hotel order us the Ethiopian version of pizza, which we just managed to eat before we collapsed into bed.
