Bus trip to the blue city, Jodhpur

Yesterday, we bought bus tickets to Jodhpur for 120 rs each, which is deeper into Rajasthan. The journey was supposed to take about 8 hours, and thankfully, it turned out to be just that—8 hours later, we rolled into Jodhpur. This city is famous for its spices and tea. After finding a nice and cheap guesthouse, Sunshine Guesthouse, for 200 rs a night, we headed down to Sardar Market. The prices for spices and tea varied so much from shop to shop that it was almost ridiculous. It was hard to figure out what the right price should be. The places recommended by Lonely Planet were quite pricey. But in the end, we found a great shop where we could smell the spices and taste the tea before buying anything. The price was about 100 rs for a bag of 250 grams. The temperature here is cooler than in Bombay, so it gets chilly when the sun isn't shining. This means we've needed our long pants and sweaters. On the bright side, it also keeps the mosquitoes at bay, so that's a plus :) Jodhpur mostly has vegetarian restaurants, which is something the locals really care about. We got a recommendation for a good restaurant, so we headed there for dinner. It turned out they served meat dishes... beer and spirits, which was just perfect for a Danish palate :) Besides that, the restaurant was incredibly cozy. We sat outside with a fire in the middle and a waterfall in the background. The place was surrounded by large rock-like walls. We ordered a chicken dish, rice, and two different types of Indian bread, all while enjoying water, rum, and cola. They served us so much food that we couldn't finish it all—and the whole meal only cost 600 rs.
