A Long Travel Day

Our last day on Koh Samui. We booked tickets for 300 baht each to leave the island. First, we had to take a boat to the mainland, then a bus to Krabi, which is on the west coast. Once again, we experienced that the Thai schedules and the actual travel times never quite match up. The trip ended up taking two hours longer than planned. We had a bit of waiting time on Koh Samui before the boat set sail, so we grabbed some lunch. My health was still a bit up and down, so it was just Jan who had lunch. When we stepped back out onto the street, I suddenly felt nauseous and had to throw up right in the middle of the street—so embarrassing. We boarded the boat and had a smooth ride to the mainland. Strangely enough, we ran into those English guys again for the second time. It’s odd to keep bumping into the same people, but it’s also exciting because you get to exchange travel stories. When we arrived on the mainland, we had an hour of waiting time, during which we struck up a conversation with a girl from Aalborg. It turned out that the bus we were taking for the last leg of our journey was a VIP bus—nice! By 9:30 PM, we were at the bus station in Krabi, where we took a taxi to a nice hotel, Seaview Hotel, since we were really tired. We had heard that the night market in Krabi was supposed to be really good, so we headed there late in the evening. It turned out that the market only sold food. Jan bought some dinner, but later lost his appetite for it...
