We had a really cold night since neither of our rooms had heating. In the room where Honny slept, there were no glass windows, just bars, so it was extra chilly. We decided to move, and since we couldn't find a new place in the area, we took a taxi to the neighborhood "Pelurinhos," which is known for its many bars. So now we're staying at Arthur's Hotel, which is cheaper than the hostel—strange, right? It costs 50 reais per night, which is 6 reais cheaper. It was originally 75 reais per night, but we managed to haggle it down :) After dropping our bags in the room, we headed down to the city, where there are tons of restaurants and bars, so I guess our last night out starts here. We found a kilo-restaurant for a late dinner, which is an incredibly cheap way to eat. It only cost 6 reais for me and 14 for Honny. After our very cold night, we really needed some sleep before heading out to party. Our room is a bit noisy, so we could hear all the cars on the street. The tires often screeched loudly when cars were about to collide and had to brake hard, but we still managed to get some sleep. People eat late here, so we didn’t go out for dinner until around 8:30 PM. We found a Mexican restaurant that looked really cozy. There was live music—among other songs, they played "Toms karameller" :) It’s pretty cool here, but the restaurants leave their doors open, so people sit inside wearing their coats while they eat—strange. We didn’t bring much warm clothing, so we had to sit and freeze a bit. Many dishes at the restaurants are big enough for two people, but that’s usually indicated on the menu. Several dishes had "for two" next to them, but not the appetizers. Still, our portions of soup with nachos and salsa were so big that four people could have shared them! Our main course was meant for two as well, but again, we couldn’t finish it—way too much food, what a luxury problem! :) The whole meal only cost 65 reais, including a beer, a drink, and water. Afterward, we headed to a bar where an '80s band was supposed to play. There, we struck up a conversation with some girls, one of whom had a German great-grandmother, so she knew a few German words. The conversation ended up being in English, German, and Portuguese :) We were also recommended a karaoke bar, so we took a taxi there. Honny went wild on stage with "Let it be," "Sailing," and "Angel." The bar served the worst drinks, so strong that they were pretty disgusting, but most of them went down anyway.
