Ski holiday in Sweden

Four easy days in Stöten with ski-in, ski-out accommodation, three full days on the slopes and Alberte celebrating her 14th birthday.

Since we went skiing in Andorra for New Year's, the kids have talked about how great it was - and when we should go again. When we came across cheap flights from Aalborg to Sälen, we jumped at the chance. The dates were perfect, too, so we could celebrate Alberte's 14th birthday up here. Four days from Thursday to Sunday gave us three full days of skiing - perfect for an extended winter break. It was impressively easy to get there: a one-hour flight from Aalborg and just a 15-minute bus ride from the airport, and we were right on the slopes in Stöten - one of Sweden's best ski resorts. We had chosen an apartment hotel right on the slope, just a few meters from the lifts, so we didn't need a rental car at all. The kids and I skied every day, while Mette had to skip because of her knee, which unfortunately can dislocate. Villads was at ski school, and it was absolutely fantastic to see his progress. Every time I picked him up, he had gotten even better. Children that age really have an impressive learning curve. In the end, both children skied safely on both green and blue slopes – and I also got to challenge myself on the red ones. The apartment had a direct view of the slopes and was really well-appointed with separate rooms for us and the children. The kitchen was well-equipped, so we cooked and ate almost all our meals at home. The Tempo supermarket and the restaurants in the ski area are on the expensive side, so we had brought some food from home – which made good sense. There is lots of snow up here, and the view from the top over the snowy landscape is really beautiful. Most of the people here are Swedes, but also a surprising number of Danish ski enthusiasts. The children love it – and according to them, this is definitely not the last time we will go on a ski holiday. ❄️🎿 We can definitely recommend Stöten in Sweden. Especially staying at the Stöten Mitt apartments right by the slopes is quite convenient! ⛷️ Ski holidays are fantastic – but not the cheapest way to travel. Especially not when you “only” go away for 4 days. There are quite a few discounts to be had on, for example, lift passes, ski school and ski rental if you stay a whole week. Here are our figures for 4 days in Stöten: 💳 Lift pass (3 days) 956 kr per person 🎿 Ski school (2 days – Villads) 626 kr in total 🎿 Ski rental (3 days) 413 kr in total per person ✈️ Flight Aalborg – Sälen round trip incl. large luggage 1,000 kr per person 🏔️ Apartment – Stöten Mitt 1,466 kr per day It adds up quickly – but on the other hand it is easy, manageable and perfect for a short skiing getaway
