We had a restless night because our hotel was quite noisy. We could hear doors slamming several floors away from us. Our mattress was also pretty hard, which is common in many Thai hotels. We headed up to the pool to relax since we didn’t feel fully rested after that rough night. Later, we decided to get some more Thai massage but ended up trying foot massage instead, which is just as wonderful and relaxing as Thai massage. The foot massage cost 80 baht for half an hour. We checked out of D&D at their designated time and stored our luggage at Jysk Rejsebureau since we were taking the train to Koh Tao in the evening. Many shops are closed on Sundays, but the weekend market in Patpong is open. It’s massive! Bands play, dancers and mimes perform, and you can buy everything under the sun. We picked up a Buddha mask for 300 baht. Just a heads up—be careful about buying Buddha figures, as it's illegal to export certain statues. After retrieving our backpacks from Jysk Rejsebureau, we took a tuk-tuk to the train station, where we had dinner before boarding the train to Koh Tao. We met a Danish couple at the restaurant, and we ended up having dinner together. They were heading north to trek in Chiang Mai. Before we boarded the train, Jan needed to use the restroom. It was by far the most disgusting situation we had encountered. There was literally... well, you can imagine, everywhere, and the stench was unbearable in the heat. The train ride was quite the ordeal too. It was a primitive rattler, and it was hard to sleep because of all the vendors hopping on at every stop. We also had just a small fan on the ceiling that didn’t provide much airflow, so it was really hot while trying to sleep. But you have to remember that this kind of train journey is just part of traveling around Thailand. You’ve got to try to take it all with a smile. On the train, we met an elderly Thai couple who were very eager to chat. They tried to convince us to visit Koh Samui, which is the island they lived on. When we finally reached our destination at 4 AM, we had to get off and wait for a bus. Luckily, we were waiting alongside a bunch of other tourists. The bus arrived around 7 in the morning and took us down to the harbor, where we would catch a boat to Koh Tao. During our wait, the mosquitoes had a field day biting all of us!
