South towards Ilha Grande

We were up early to pack our backpacks so we could catch one of the first buses to Angra dos Reis, from where we would take a boat to Ilha Grande. We shared a taxi to the bus station with a German girl and a French guy, which made for a cheap ride—only 14 reais in total. We wanted to leave early in case the morning traffic caused any issues. Luckily, we arrived with plenty of time to spare and hopped on a bus at 11. It was just a short trip ahead—2 and a half hours. We had heard that the boat to Ilha Grande didn’t leave until 3:30 PM, but we found an unofficial boat that was leaving at 2:30, so we jumped on that one. It cost 5 reais per person. An hour and 20 minutes later, we arrived at paradise island, and it was easy to find accommodation since we had met several people on the boat who offered cheap pousadas. We chose a place called Ilha Grande Pousada, where they spoke English and the cabins looked clean. Plus, they included a welcome drink, their national drink "Caipirinha," breakfast, kayak, and snorkeling gear in the price—just 40 reais per night. The German girl had checked out several places before deciding on the same one as us, saying it was the best on the island. We hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so by 5 PM, we were getting pretty hungry. We found a small restaurant by the beach where all the dishes were meant for two people. We opted for chicken with ham and cheese, which was really delicious. It cost 50 reais, which is super cheap. It’s quite common for restaurants to offer dishes for two. If you’re dining alone, you can ask for a single portion, and you’ll pay 60% of the price.
