For the first time in weeks, the sun is shining today. The locals seem completely relieved. Maybe Sri Lanka is on its way back to its normal rhythm... In Unawatuna, there are several places offering yoga and meditation led by very dedicated teachers. "Secret Garden" is just one of those spots, with classes at 9 AM and 5 PM. It costs 1000 rs per person for about an hour. It felt great to get stretched out, even though it hurt. Our teachers walked around and pushed us, so there was no way to escape easily. It was supposed to hurt, and it did! :) One of them looked like a snake person. Some poses felt completely unnatural for the body to be in. We had heard that Mirissa Beach was a little paradise, so we took the bus about an hour further south - 50 rs per person. Yes, this time the rumors were true. Mirissa really is a little paradise. A beautiful beach surrounded by palm trees. There are no houses or buildings on the beach. When the sun shines, the water looks even more inviting with its turquoise color. It’s been a while since we’ve had the chance to swim so much. The water was incredibly nice. There are no bars or nightclubs here. But in the evening, chairs and tables are set up on the beach, with soft music playing in the background. The day's catch is displayed, so you can choose exactly which fish you want to eat. We sit with sand between our toes, enjoying our dinner. Every now and then, a wave rolls in high enough to wash over our feet. Our dinner consisted of Barracuda for 700 rs and 3 crabs for 600 rs. Looking around at the tourists in Mirissa, most are couples and small families. No one comes here if they’re looking to party all night long. People come here for the nature. A true little gem by the Indian Ocean.
