Arranging a Tribe Visit
We took a flight from Addis Ababa Arba Minch two in the south of Ethiopia to see the different tribes.
When we woke up in the morning, the fever had miraculously disappeared. The diarrhea was still there, but I just had to make sure not to eat anything. That made things manageable. It was great that we could finally head to the airport and fly south to the tribes. Our flight to Arba Minch was delayed to 11 AM instead of the original 9 AM due to a shortage of planes. So, we had some extra time at the airport to ask other travelers if we could buy some Malarone from them. We managed to score a few pills from some Israelis. Now we have enough to last us until we get home. How lucky can you get? :o) We checked into the Turisthotellet, which is the only decent place to stay in town. It costs 240 birr for a double room. There aren’t many tourists in Arba Minch. We had hoped to team up with others to share the costs, but it looks like we’ll be going solo. We’ve rented a car with a driver and a guide. It’s 150 USD per day for the car, including the driver, gas, and oil. Yeah, it’s not cheap. The guide costs 250 birr per day. Since we managed to buy more Malarone pills, we now have enough to take one every day. If we hadn’t been able to get more malaria pills, our plan was to keep Malarone on hand just in case we were unlucky enough to contract malaria.
