We experienced Latvia on a Whitsun weekend in Riga, where the historic old town, Baltic atmosphere and easy access made it an ideal city break.
Latvia is the middle of the three Baltic states, and our encounter centred on its capital, Riga. During a long Whitsun weekend we explored the historic old town, architecture and the distinctive Baltic blend of Nordic proximity and Eastern European history.
